We celebrate one of the most iconic and versatile foods: the meatball.

Meatballs, are a comfort food, a home-away-from-home food to be eaten on cold winter nights or balmy summer days. Meatballs bring us together—families, friends, young and old—to chat and unite in a love for life. Mangiamo & polpettiamo!

We are inspired by Italian tradition and led by Italian hands.

We view each of our culinary creations with nostalgia, creating traditional dishes with a modern perspective. All of our meatballs, or polpette, are pre-portioned and hand-crafted to be shared with loved ones.

In Italy, polpette are also enjoyed as a meal’s main course. The best polpette are topped with a variety of sauces as well as made and shaped by hand. At Polpettiamo, we bring this tradition with our twist to America.

The celebration of a companionship.

Polpettiamo is a project by the Italian chef Marisa Iocco and the Italian restaurateur Francesco Iacovitti.

Iocco has opened and consulted for more than 25 restaurants in the Boston area. When Iocco started Spiga in 2017, she partnered with Francesco Iacovitti, an esteemed restaurateur with a background in accounting and excellent taste. Iacovitti devotes himself to every project with passion and dedication.

For our chef Marisa Iocco, cooking is alchemy. Cultivating a dish is more than just putting ingredients together; it is a scientific, mystical transformation in which each component mixes and melds to form something spectacular. Inspired by the culinary creations of her mamma, Iocco makes the kitchen her canvas and each plate’s ingredients her paint. Iocco’s memories of her childhood’s recipes are vivid; the recipes recall her early life in Italy, where she explored flavors in the kitchen without inhibition. Her life in Italy centered around vibrant family traditions, daily cappuccinos in la piazza, and late evenings at the table sharing delectable food and intimate conversations. Polpettiamo aims to give our guests a taste of these memories.

Iocco’s culinary approach has brought her many accolades and awards. She has appeared in The New York Times, Food & Wine, Bon Appetit, Esquire, Eating Well, Boston Magazine and The Boston Globe. She is the author of the book Every Menu is a Love Story: Ecco Perché Amore.

Marisa Iocco and Franceso Iacovitti have shaped Polpettiamo’s menu to be a celebration of their own companionship. The Polpettiamo experience is a representation of when the pair met at a mutual friend’s home. When Iocco and Iacovitti met, they connected right away over their shared passion for food.
